6 SF Activities Ideal for Big Groups

Traveling in a pack can sometimes prove to be a bit of a feat in a city like San Francisco. But just because you’ve got every extended relative or college buddy in tow doesn’t mean you should have any less fun! Check out these six Vantigo-tested activities for treating the whole crew to a good time.

1. Hike up the 16th Avenue Tiled Steps

Combine some culture with your daily workout by taking on these 163+ beautiful mosaic steps. The lower sets of steps are beautifully adorned with mosaic patterns and images, created by local artists and neighborhood participants. Follow the second set of (slightly more boring) traditional steps up to Grand View Park for a breathtaking 360 view of the city.

2. Sip afternoon tea at Charles Chocolates

Feel good about supporting your sweet tooth by supporting local Mission District chocolate shop, Charles Chocolates. They produce all their own chocolate on site, and really knock it out of the park with their mint mojito chocolate hearts (trust us on this one- you must try them!) Book your group an afternoon tea and enjoy a variety of teas, chocolates, pastries, and tea sandwiches.

3. Get your Bubble Soccer on in Golden Gate Park

Ready to burn off that sugar? Get even the least athletic person in your group excited to run with Bay Area Bubble Soccer- the latest and greatest in silly sports. The company offers a wide variety of packages ranging from $20 upwards, and guaranteeing the fun.

4. Take over a table at Southern Pacific Brewing

SPB is one of the many fine brewing establishments San Francisco has to offer. One extra special thing SPB offers is a joyous abundance of – can you guess? Seating! Perfect for large groups, Southern Pacific Brewing offers 21 brews on tap in addition to a full bar and kitchen menu. Growlers are available for $7 each.

5. Discover who has the best (or loudest) singing voice at Pandora Karaoke

Everyone loves to sing in public, right? Well maybe by the time you’re done sampling the local brews your group will be ready to sample something else- and we don’t mean chocolate. San Francisco offers a wide variety of karaoke bars on Market Street and in Chinatown, but Pandora is typically a great choice for large groups. An extra fun feature? They offer themed rooms of your choice.

6. Hold a bonfire on Ocean Beach

Feeling sentimental about your day with the old gang? What better way to finish it out than with a good old-fashioned campfire. Head over to the Safeway on La Playa Street to gather up firewood and s’mores ingredients, then make your way to the fire pits located between stairwells 15 and 20 on Ocean Beach. Remember: No glass is allowed on the beach, and fires must be extinguished by 9PM. Be sure to check if it’s a “spare the air” day in the Bay, in which case you’ll have to resort to the old s’mores in the microwave routine. For the rest of the NPS rules on campfires click here.
