Vantigo Love: Amelia & Brett’s Vineyard Wedding

This week we had the opportunity to chat with Amelia about her experiences in wedding planning, and what it was like to have Vantigo involved in her big day.

How did you and Brett first meet?

We met in college. I was in a sorority and Brett was in a fraternity, so we ran into each other pretty often. Over time, it turned into a friendship, and then a relationship.

What was the wedding planning process like for you?

Definitely overwhelming at times! I work in the events industry so it really just felt like another job, except I was my own client. Plus, I have seen so many amazing weddings that it was hard to narrow down everything that I loved, so that the day was cohesive.

We tried our best to make it fun, and I was pleasantly surprised by how involved Brett was throughout the entire planning process. We love throwing parties for our friends, so we decided that our wedding was an opportunity for the biggest party we’ll ever throw! He came to every single vendor meeting, ran countless errands, and even spent an entire holiday weekend assembling invitations with me. I couldn’t ask for a better partner!

Choosing a venue seems like one of the more difficult aspects of wedding planning- what made you choose the Palm Event Center?

While we both dreamed of a wedding in Wine Country, it just wasn’t realistic with our budget…and the amount of guests we were inviting! Palm Event Center gave us that same California, vineyard wedding atmosphere, while being much more affordable and closer for our guests.

We both immediately fell in love with the Estate Room, where our ceremony took place. I loved how the space felt intimate, while still comfortably accommodating all of our all family and friends. The minute I found out that the stunning chandeliers were part of the existing set-up, I was sold!

Palm Event Center (and their sister property Casa Real) both go above and beyond being just an event venue. They are always up on the latest trends and coming up with special extras to make weddings feel unique. Their staff is extremely helpful and very accommodating to special requests. And their food is the most delicious catered meal you will ever eat!! ☺

What inspired you to include a classic VW van into your wedding day? Is there a special connection or significance for you and Brett?

Brett and I have always talked about having a VW van someday. I was looking everywhere for a classic VW van to surprise Brett with at our wedding. I emailed classic car clubs, posted Craigslist ads, and even left a note on a really rad van that was parked at Trader Joe’s one day. Not a single person responded and I was very discouraged!

One day, Brett called me at work and was all excited because he had found this company called Vantigo that did tours in classic VW vans. He asked me if I thought they would rent one to us for the wedding. I was beyond excited, but also bummed that he had totally stolen my idea! He emailed Erik, who responded right away and helped us with arrangements.

Some people definitely thought we were crazy when we told them…but I’d take a classic VW van over a boring old limo any day! We really wanted our wedding to be a reflection of “us” and it was the perfect nod to our inner hippies. Running out to the car, getting inside and looking back at all our guest’s smiling faces was one of my favorite moments of the day!

How was your experience working with Vantigo?

Working with Vantigo was awesome! We signed up for the City Lights Tour prior to booking our wedding. Erik was our tour guide and he and Brett became instant friends. He was extremely helpful during the whole planning process.

Eddie was our driver and he was great! And talk about going above and beyond – he even asked the DJ for our first dance song so he could have it playing as we got in the car!

We cannot recommend Vantigo enough – for weddings or for fun tours!

Any advice for the brides and grooms-to-be who are currently planning their weddings?

During the planning process, make a budget and stick to it. Sit down together and decide which parts of the wedding are most important to you, and scale your budget accordingly. Don’t feel like you have to spend a ton of money to have a great wedding!

On the day of your wedding, take some time to hang out just the two of you. We snuck outside during dessert, watched the party from afar, and had a total “OMG we did this!” moment.

Anything else you’d like to add?

Thanks so much to the team at Vantigo for making our dream wedding come true! And a big thank you to our amazing photographer Amanda from Blueberry Photography who captured these photos we will treasure forever!
